Sister’s Shadow

Overview

Sister’s Shadow is a survival horror game focused on resource management and exploration. You play as Jake, a detective searching for his missing sister by following a trail of evidence that feels like chasing her shadow. Inspired by classic titles like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, the game features tight inventory systems, environmental storytelling, and tense encounters with limited resources.

Iteration 1

Sister’s Shadow began development in the summer of 2024 as a solo project. Over two months, I created a playable prototype inspired by classic survival horror titles like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. The demo featured key foundational systems, including zombie AI, basic combat, map progression, an interaction system, and a fully root motion-driven character controller. Although development was cut short, the core idea showed strong potential and remained worth pursuing.

Iteration 2

After a short break, I pitched the concept to others and assembled a small team. Over the following four months, we rebuilt and expanded on the prototype’s foundations. A major focus was creating a flexible, scalable inventory system, something the original lacked. We also redesigned the world layout and added quality-of-life features such as warping checkpoints, a complete traversable map, and a minimap to aid in exploration. These systems served as a solid base for planned future content development.
